Norman Badger has dedicated more than thirty years to his career with Publix, the employee-owned grocery company in the United States. His path reflects steady growth built on hard work, consistency, and leadership. From his start in hourly roles to becoming Senior Vice President of Retail Operations, his journey has been defined by commitment to his responsibilities and the people he works with. In his current role, he oversees store operations across the company, ensuring that service and performance standards are maintained while supporting teams at every level.
Publix operates more than 1,400 stores across eight southeastern states, with the majority located in Florida, as well as in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. He began his career in 1995 as a front-service clerk in Aiken, South Carolina. After working in several hourly positions, he became a store manager in 2007, taking on responsibility for budgets, staffing, inventory, and customer satisfaction. In 2014, he advanced to District Manager, overseeing several stores and guiding managers in achieving company goals and maintaining operational consistency. Three years later, in 2017, he was promoted to Regional Director, where he led multiple districts, focusing on long-term planning, operational alignment, and leadership development.
In 2020, Norman Badger, Publix, was promoted to Vice President of Product Business Development for the Bakery and Meat departments. In this position, he expanded product categories, built supplier relationships, negotiated agreements, and refined merchandising and supply chain strategies. His efforts ensured that products aligned with customer preferences and company objectives. In 2024, he advanced again to become Senior Vice President of Retail Operations, a role in which he oversees all retail stores across the company’s footprint. His responsibilities include supporting regional and store leaders, ensuring operational consistency, and contributing to the company’s long-term strategy. He remains grateful for the opportunities given to him and values the people he works alongside.
He was born in Jacksonville, FL, and married his high school sweetheart in 2001. Together, they have a son and have lived in different cities, including Atlanta, Charleston, and Raleigh, before moving back to Florida. Family is central in his life, and they enjoy traveling and creating lasting memories. Sports also play an essential role. He and his son are strong fans of the Steelers and Penn State, traveling to games each season as part of a tradition that has strengthened their bond. In 2023, they traveled to Glendale, Arizona, to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play the Eagles, a special highlight of their trip. His son plays JV football in multiple positions and also participates in basketball. Watching him play is a source of pride, and over time, he has collected keepsakes from their trips, each one representing a memory of their time together.
